Village Eyecare and Eyewear Boutique Celebrates New South Loop Location
(CHICAGO) Optometrists Dr. Seth Sarai and Dr Mona Sood invite the community to celebrate the opening of Village Eyecare at 1243 S. Wabash in the South Loop.
Village Eyecare has operated as the University Village Eye Center at 1116 W. Taylor Street for over 40 years. A husband and wife team, Dr. Sarai and Dr. Sood purchased the University Village Center and eyewear boutique two years ago. They have steadily increased the number of patients served by updating technology, expanding designer eyewear lines and adding patient care amenities. The second location in the South Loop will allow Village Eyecare to provide even more convenient service, with easy access to nearby parking and the Roosevelt CTA public transportation station.
“Both locations will provide comprehensive diagnostic services in our state of the art practice,” said Dr. Sarai, a board certified optometrist from University of California at Berkeley. “We run professional optometric practices where patient service and superior technology are of utmost importance. At our offices, we have the latest diagnostic equipment to help diagnose and monitor eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy,” said Dr. Sarai.
“We specialize in difficult and complex contact lens fittings,” said Dr. Sood. “Contact lens materials have greatly advanced and expanded in terms of fit and material. The variety of options for hard, soft, daily, extended and specialty lenses now on the market allow better comfort and vision for patients of all ages and prescriptions,” added Dr. Sood.
The mission of Village Eyecare is to provide comprehensive eye care with excellence and compassion. Services offered include eye exams, specialty contact lens fittings, glaucoma management, low vision and vision therapy, laser refractive surgery, pre- and post-operative care, and pediatric eye care. Customer conveniences will abound, with an in-office lab allowing same-day service on many prescriptions and extended hours to include evenings and Saturdays. Insurance is accepted at both locations.
A discerning factor for Village Eyecare is the large selection of high-end, high fashion designer eyewear now available at the boutiques. “Our collections consist of individually selected, handmade and designer fashions off the runway from around the world,” said Dr. Sood, also a graduate of the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. More than 20 designers feature designs for daily, business and casual wear, sunglasses and sports.
Dr. Sarai specializes in ocular disease management, difficult contact lens fittings and pediatrics. Dr. Sood specializes in advanced contact lens fittings, ocular disease treatment and dry eye management. Both Doctors are members of the American Optometric Association and the Illinois Optometric Association. They are joined by a team of accredited opticians, eyewear stylists and patient care professionals, to ensure a treatment experience that is completely tailored to the needs of each patient. “Our goal is to build life-long relationships with our patients in Chicago’s dynamic and diverse neighborhoods and villages,” said Dr. Sood.
Dr. Sood and Dr. Sarai met on the first day of class while attending the University of California at Berkeley School of Optometry, which is the top-ranked program in the nation. They both graduated with honors in 2003. The eye doctors live in the South Loop and are members of the South Loop Planning Board and University Village Association. Both are involved in community and industry programs as well, including Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). The primary mission of VOSH is to facilitate the provision of vision care worldwide to people who can neither afford nor obtain such care, with a pledge to eliminate preventable blindness by the year 2020.
